Legal Question in Family Law in California
What are the California code sections that are used to get to a "long cause" hearing?
1 Answer from Attorneys
A long cause hearing is simply a hearing that is longer than the 20 minutes allotted for law and motion matters. You would need to request one at the court date and plead your case that the time required to go over the issue can not fit within 20 minutes. It will be up to the court in its discretion to determine if they should set a long cause hearing.
For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
