Legal Question in Family Law in California

California Divorce and pre-inheritance?

My sister is in the process of going through an ugly divorce from an abusive and mentally unstable man. They were married for about 15 years. About 12 years ago my father gave my sister his few acres of property as a pre-inheritance. My sisters and her husbands name went on the property. At the time, there was a verbal agreement made that when my father passed away half of the property would go to me(I was still a minor at the time). There are two houses on the property. My dad's which has been there for almost 30 years and my sisters, which she and her husband had built about 12 years ago. This has always been family property and we have always lived there(my sister, father and I). Now the abusive X is trying to sue my sister for half of the property, among other things. Surprise, no mention of any verbal agreement as to my inheriting half of the property one day. He says he will force us all to sell the family property and live on the street. Can he do this to us? Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated.
