Legal Question in Family Law in California

California Law: My husband and I filed for a dissolution of our marriage in December 2009, to be completed in late June 2010. (6 months) Question: If we want to slow down the process, not cancel, but just slow it down...do we have to appear in court or can we just file a paper. OR if we don't submit settlement forms then does it automatically slow down the timeline.

Thanks

If you do not move the case forward, that automatically slows it down. I don't know your county's local rules, but generally if you do not file a stipulated settlement for judgment, and no one files an "at issue memorandum" or whatever the local form is to advise the court it is time to have a trial setting, the case can languish for months or even years.
