Legal Question in Family Law in California

Getting a California non-removal order

I have joint custody of two children that live 18 miles away with they're father and my parents. We seperated in 2004 and he decided to stay living there with my family and the kids. It worked! Now, he says he's planning to move 95 miles away from me and take our kids with him. Even though he doesn't pay rent he says it's for financial reasons (moving will make his job 75 miles away instead of the now 8 miles!?!) Can i stop him? How do i get a non-removal order? We're both in Los Angeles County.

Thanks

Re: Getting a California non-removal order

You can object to the move. He may have a difficult time convincing the court that he has a legitimate reason for moving. Retain an attorney to represent you asap.
