did california ever recognized common law,I have been with the same man for 31yrs. can I claim his social security when he dies?

California does not recognize common law marriages, no matter the length of the relationship.

Yes, California did recognize common law marriage up until the 1860's I believe.

California does not recognize common law marriage. California would only recognize the marriage if you entered into a common law marriage in another state that recognized common law marriages, and then moved here.
