Legal Question in Family Law in California

change name back to birth name while still married

I am married and have changed my name to my husbands. Could I change it back to my birth name without paying a lot of money or having to get a divorce? How easy is this process and where should I start?

You have two choices. First, there is no law against using any mean you want to use as long as it is not for fraudulent purposes. You don't need to do anything except just start using the name you want to use. If you want something more official, go to the court clerk and you can buy the forms you need to file a petition for a name change.
