Name Change Cost
What would the typical cost be for a name change in California? An apporximate idea would be helpful.

filing fee is about $200. you can get the forms from the court clerk. to have an attorney appear in court for it if you dont want to do it yourself would be about $250

A name change would only cost about $300 plus costs for the papaerwork without making an appearance. You did not say how old the person is that wants a name change. If it is a minor you would need the consent of both parents. If an adult then it would be fairly simple to do it yourself. Just prepare a petition for name change and submit it to the court in your area.
