Name change after divorce
I found out too late that when my ex sued me for divorce he could have checked a box restoring my last name to my former maiden name. He did not and I need it changed back so my records with the school I graduated from and my pilots license will have my old name. How do I do this?

Go to the county clerk. Ask for judicial form 1287-50. Fill it out and sign it. You'll need your case number and caption. Go to the court where your divorce was finalized with the original and as many copies as you need. The clerk will process everything. Ask for CERTIFIED copies; they will charge you but you might need them for FAA, DMV, etc. Send one copy to the Secretary of State for the state of California.
