Legal Question in Family Law in California

Name change

I gave my son my maiden name at birth and later married his father. He is now 21 and would like to add his father's name to his last name. Both parent names on birth certificate. Does he have to go to court to do this?

Re: Name change

You need to file for a name change. THere are numerous books on how to do it self help style. An attorney can also help you get a court order for it.

As always please consult with a local attorney in your area before making legal decisions.

Good luck!
