Legal Question in Family Law in California

name change after marraige

What is the procedure for a legal name change 2 years after the marraige has taken place? I've kept my maiden name until now and I'd like to change my last name to my husband's but we've already been married more than 2 years.

You can change your name to your husbands last name without having to go through any legal procedure simply by starting to use his name and changing all of your records such as DMV and social security. Just tell them that you have been married and wish to use your married name.

Good luck to you.
