change of venue in a child custody case

when my son was born we lived in California he is now 14 years old in 2005 my ex-husband moved to nevada then to new mexico in 2006 i got move away orders from California and moved to tennessee i have always had primary custody and my son has always lived with me since no one lives or has lived in the home state of california how do i get a change of venue from california to tennessee

Under the Uniform Child Cutody Jurisdiction Act, You could obtain child custody orders in Tennessee. You would have to either prove to the Tennessee court that the father no longer lives in California, or get a court order in California that gives you permission to proceed in Tennessee.

Talk to a Tennessee Lawyer. You will probably need to register the order in Tenn and then modify the order, unless the California order states that California retains jurisdiction, then you need to modify the California order first. Pat
