Legal Question in Family Law in California
change of venue
I obtained a divorce while living in Arizona and was awarded spousal support for 4 years without prejudice. I now live in California and would like to have a change of venue from Arizona to California. My ex still resides in Arizona. Is this possible? I need an answer ASAP. Thanking you for your help in this matter.

Re: change of venue
As a general rule once Arizona has jurisdiction it continues to have jurisdiction so long as one party to the divorce remains in Arizona. Also for California courts to make an order for spousal support would require personal jurisdiction over your ex husband. It is difficult to establish personal jurisdiction over him unless he agrees, which is unlikely.
