Change of Venue

I just received a filing for a "Change of Venue" motion from my ex-wife's attorney. Our divorce/custody papers were filed in Los Angeles. She says that this is a normal thing to do. I'm confused. The only reason that I can think that she would want to move venue for our divorce decree is so that she can amend it. Would that be the case?
