Legal Question in Family Law in California

name change

I am a 33 year old adult. I wish to change my birth name to my blood father�s name. My birth name is that of my mother�s married name, not her blood. What paper work do I need to do to change my name? Can I just change everything driver�s license and Social Security, to start? Or do I need to legal file a name change?

Re: name change

You will have to file a petition for a name change and follow the procedure proscribed for a name change. To just change your name, with the current security situation you may have serious problems in the future.
