Change of last name

I have a 4 year old daughter. I am a single mom and my douther has my last name. But now her dad wants to change her last name but I do not agree. Can he sitll change her last name even though I do not want to?

Why not let him change her name? He is the father, right? And do you realize that you may get married some day and then you will take another man's name? And do you also realize that your daughter will marry someday and most likely change her last name to her husband's last name?

Some things should be flexible, like this. Rather than taking an irresolute position, why not give this to him? You may need something from him in the future.
