Legal Question in Family Law in California

Changing your name in California

Can I change my name in California by usage alone or, must legal papers be signed?

Can my ex-husband sue me to drop my hyphenated name so that I no longer carry his last name as a portion of my name?

you can get legal papers signed but you dont have to. You can use any name you want as long as it is not fo an illegal purpose. Your ex-husband cant do anything about it.
