Legal Question in Family Law in California

Changing locks on home

My ex and I still have our house......no one lives there now..she is still on the title of house but has stopped making any kind of payments toward the mortgage or house bills....she has taken out all her belongings .....everything in the house is my personal property....can I legally change the locks so that she cannot have access to my property....so that she cannot take it or destroy it, etc. And can I legally rent it out to help me out on paying the mortgage?....since I am paying for everything on my own now.

Re: Changing locks on home

You should motion the court to have those requests be court orders. You don't want to do anything that you would regret later on. Changing the locks on her is not appropriate since you are both owners of the home.

As always please consult with a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck.
