Legal Question in Family Law in California

Checks

I have been sending my ex a 100$ check every month for my son. We have no child support order in court and have not agreed upon an amount to be paid. I am giving what I can for now and I still can't see my son. I just noticed that she has been writing ''PARTIAL'' above where I write ''support for my son''. She wants more money that I do not have but won't go to court. Is this legal for her to be writing on my checks without my knowledge.

Re: Checks

Child support is 18% of your gross income or a minimum of $100 a month. What you pay, what she writes on the check and what you can pay are all determined by the law, not by you guys. She can go back 4 years if you underpay.
