Legal Question in Family Law in California

child adoption

I married my wife in November of 2007. She came into the marriage with 3 kids from 2 prior relationships. One of the kids fathers has not had any relationship with the oldest child since 2005 nor has he paid child support. And the father for the other 2 children has sporadic contact with them and pays no child support. I would like to move for adopting all three children since I have been providing for them since me and the mother have met in 2003. As a matter of fact he just served my wife with custody and child support papers yesterday. What can we do?

Re: child adoption

You need to retain an attorney to represent her. The attorney can advise her regarding collecting child support and opposing the request to change custody and visitation. Custody and visitation hearings are controlled by the facts of each case.
