Legal Question in Family Law in California

child custody or adoption?

I am a mother and I am the custodial parent. I would like to know how to gain complete custody of my daughter in exchange for stopping child support payments from the non-custodial parent. The father has no interest in visitation & is desperate to keep avoiding child support. I just need to know what forms to fill out and what do I do with them. I have no idea where the father is located either.

Re: child custody or adoption?

A child has the right to support from both parents. It is the child's right, not yours, so you cannot just sign it away. You have to have a judge ok an agreement that allows the father not to pay, and I don't know of any who will allow that just because dad doesn't want to pay. Save that money for college. If he doesn't pay, she can go after him in court after she turns 18.
