Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Custody

I have 50/50 custody of my two boys (ages 14 and 15), but temporarily I moved to a different city (about an hour away) and now I see them every other weekend and every Wednesday from 6-9. My ex-wife has not let me see my kids for the 3rd consecutive Wednesday, she keeps avoiding me and giving me excuses. She keeps changing the schedule last minute and telling me to come on Tuesday or Thursday, but I cant because I am working and I cannot change my schedule that freely. She is also forcing the children to lie for her. I would like to know what my options are. My lawyer says he will write her a letter, but that has never been affective in the past. Is she not in violation of court order? Can I not report this to the police? Thank you for your time.

Re: Child Custody

You could go over there and, when she refuses to let you take your boys, call the police. This isn't that great of an idea because it traumatizes children.

A better solution, even though it takes longer, is to file an Order to Show Cause. Don't do a Contempt Citation. Courts hate those unless they become absolutely necessary. I would do an OSC for a clarifying order.
