Legal Question in Family Law in California

child custody

Circumstances caused my daughters children to be removed from her. CPS has dropped the case but family court has not because the childrens fathers sister filed temporary guardianship and won. She has moved the children 500 miles away. We do have phone communication but we would like advice as how to get the children returned sooner. My daughter is doing very well and is doing everything the judge has asked. We've been told we might want legal councel. The children have been gone for 6 months. Can you advice us on anything. She lives on SSI and has no money. we appreciate any help we can get. thank you

Re: child custody

This is difficult. It is good that she is doing everything the judge asked. To get the kids back, she has to get the judge to terminate the guardianship. To do that, in short, she has to show the guardianship is no longer necessary, so she is going to have to establish via evidence that she has overcome whatever issues she had that led to the guardianship, and that she is now fit to be a parent and provide a stable household for the children.
