Re: child custody
The thing is that as long as you are protecting your child from neglect, then you won't lose him even if his dad drinks. This means not leaving your son with his dad alone. Also, you need to go to court right away to ask for an extension before this becomes a probation violation. You probably have a limited amount of time to complete the classes. If you violate probation, you could lose the right to be in the program. (I'm assuming PC 1000.) The court doesn't care how tight your schedule is. Everyone has excuses. You have a difficult situation.
Re: child custody
You have several issues. One, make sure that you don't leave your child alone with his father if you believe that he will not stay sober while with your son. You need to show that you are protecting your son. Two, you should go to court and ask for an extension. The court doesn't care about busy schedules. If you are still enrolled, start going to classes asap.
Re: child custody
If your child is important to you then you should receive the advice of an attorney who is familiar with child custody law. It sounds like Dad is over the edge but you are on the edge. A couple sentences of information and a couple sentences of advice may just cause you more problems. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
