Legal Question in Family Law in California

child custody

I was divoreced in Texas 2000. I now live in Calif. My daughter stayed in Texas to live with her STEP FATHER, she is currenty age 16. In the recent months she has moved in with her step-fathers niece whos husband is active military and will be deployed to Germany in Feb. 2008. My daughter plans to move overseas with them. My ex-husband and I have joint custody with myself being the primary custody holder although she lived with her step-father. Is there any other meand to grant the niece permission to seek and obtain proper legal documentation to travel out of the county (visa, passport, etc.) and to obtain any needed medical assistance that may arise as well as permission to in role her in school over there with me relinquishing my custody of the child as well as any of my parental rights?

Re: child custody

You statement indicates that you daughter has been in Texas since 2000 and therefore Texas would be her home state and that is the law that would apply. Further since it appears that she would be traveling with a military family and living with that family. Therefore consulting with the military as to the requirements of the military would be a good place to start.
