Child Custody

My ex-husband has agreed to relinquish physical custody of our daughter to me. What steps do I need to take to make this legal. We have joint legal custody.

Re: Child Custody

You should prepare a written stipulation (agreement) and order for the judge. Then submit that agreement to the court for the court to make it an order. Your local facilitator's office can help you prepare the agreement and order. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

You need a stipulation to modify the underlying Judgment and order thereon. This can be prepared by a qualified Paralegal Assistant as well as an attorney. You should also considder having the child support reviewed in light of the changes in custody\visittaion that you are considering.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
