Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child custody

My ex-husband has recently moved back to Ca. after living in Hawaii for 6 yrs. I've had our 12 yr. old son this entire time, and he's very happy remaining with me. My ex-husband now wants custody of our son. Our son is afraid to mention that he is emotionally abused, and has been for years. After being interviewed by our mediator, and stating that he wants to stay with me,(mom) the mediator still recommended that a change of custody and moving with dad is in the child's best interest. When I told my son of the decision, he was devastated, and is now ready to speak of all the abuse that his dad has put him through. What should I do? I have our hearing in 6 days! I should also mention, there has been several absences & tardies over the past 5 yrs.( but have improved dramatically this past school year.)

Re: Child custody

You probably need to ask the court for a psychological evaluation order. The cost of this evaluation is usually $3K to $4k.
