Child Custody Financial Matters

My husband and I were granted custody of his children from a previous marriage on 12/03,presently ages are 14 & 16. On 11/05 we were granted payment of $700 monthly, for child support. On 1/3/06, I received papers from his ex-wife, requesting orginal records of our bank accounts, tax returns for 2001, all bills i.e. utilities, car payments, mortgage, etc., basically anything to do with our finances. All our legal work has been thru one county, she has filed some kind of case in another county. We are unsure what kind of case this is. Our only question is do we have to hand over any financial records to her without a judges request? Will we be held accountable, since the paper is stamped as a legal document? We are not handing anything over, we just want to be informed of the consequences,if any. The request states to hand over on 1-15-06 @ 10am at her residence. Apparently she is acting as her own counsel. Thank you for any info you can give me.

You should consult an attorney regarding the document that is demanding that you produce documents. Requesting documents for past years may be unreasonable. However, there is no way to respond to your question as there is no information about the proceedings or the document you have been served with.
