Child Custody

I want to gain legal custody of my children so that I can move out of state and give their father visitation like every other holiday and a couple weeks in the summer we have not court papers now and we were never married the girls are 5 and 3. what is the best way to go about this and what are my chances? I currently have them 70% of the time
