Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child Custody
Is there any law that says that if a parent does not attempt contact or send any support for a certain amount of time, that they will lose their parental rights? If so, how long is that time? I am in the state of California.

I believe if you have no contact for a year, the other parent can file a petition to terminate your parental rights. I am not absolutely sure. Maybe another attorney will confirm.
Re: Child Custody
If a parent has no contact with and/or does not provide for the support of a child for on year, a petition to terminate parental rights may be filed with the court. However, the court will generally not grant such a petition unless there is an adoptive parent to take responsibility for the child.
