Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child custody and parental rights outside marriage
Hello, I am expecting a baby and I am
not married to the father of the child.
What are his rights if when the child is
born I just register under my last
name?

If he is the father list him as the father on the birth certificate. You would then need to file a petition to establish paternity with the family law court. The court would do a DNA test on baby and father. The court would then order support...but also consider visitation for dad. Be careful.

The father has rights whether you name him as the father or not on the birth certificate. All he has to do is file a petition to establish paternity, take a blood test, and prove that he's the father.
