Legal Question in Family Law in California

child custody

i reside in hawaii and have my son with me, his father got a lawyer n had send me documents about returning my son to cali. his father had said so many lies about me to his lawyer n they want my son return to calif. there were no custody papers yet to begin with n his lawyer said i could be charged for kidnapping, my son was retained on kindergarten when he was with his father in cali. now that i have him in hawaii with me he is doing really well i am not askin for sole custody but his father is asking for sole custody i spoke to him so many times in makin arrangement where i can take care of him on school days and he can spend time with him on summer, so i can always help him with his schooling i even offerred to pay his ticket to calif. during summer but he tend to give me a hard time again my son loves it here with me and im so afraid when they take him i just dont want him to be disturbed about all of this i only want whats best for him while his father is just takin out his anger on me and not thinkin of what my son really needs please help me on what i need to do however i am responding back to his lawyer my mom will be turning in the papers to family law for me because im due to deliver anytime right now whats best for me

You need to retain an attorney who practices in the county where the father has fileda motion. It is important that you retain the attorney immediately and not file any responsive papers without an attorney's advice. Filing the papers may give the California court jurisdiction it does not othewise have.
