Child custody and Spousal support

Is it true that if one parent has full custody of a 17 year old (father) and 50/50 of two other younger children that when the 17 year old turns 18 the wifes spousal support goes up?

The change in spousal support would depend upon the income and expenses of the parents, and not just the fact that a child turned 18.
