Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child custody and vacations leaving 8/16/07

What do I need to do as far as ''consents'' to travel to Hawaii for a family vacation with my daughters? I live in Los Angeles County, california. I have joint custody, but my ex-wife has physical and it does not specify exacltly what to do in regards to traveling in our court papers. I have dozens of emails from her regarding this upcoming trip, location, flight numbers, phone numbers etc...proff that she has been given all necessary information, and she has given her consent for me to take them on her days of legal custody and to Hawaii- all correspondense is over the Internet. Do I need more???? Or is this sufficient enough? She is also going on vacation to a different country the following week, does she need a consent to cross the American boarder? Also, she wants her consent notarized...is that necessary?

You need to have her permission to take the children, assuming there is nothing in the court order the prohibits removing the children from the state, which would be unusual. Written permission is best. An e-mail if very good. Oral is ok but is difficult to prove in court if she then disputes that she gave permission. Good Luck, and have a fun trip. Pat McCrary
