child custody

I have a 10 yr old son who lives in my home with his mother and I for his entire life. She is planning on taking him with her. Can I keep him with me until I get a custody hearing. She is seeing other men and staying out all night occasionally as well as hollering constantly and full of anger. She was cited by Child services several years ago for physical abuse of her then 12 yr old daughter.
