Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child over 18 - Any hope in collecting back support?

I'm a bit lost after sifting through a zillion web

sites pertaining to child support, collection, and the

like, so here goes:

I'm 22 years old, was raised solely by my mother, who

was not married to my father at any point. Once she

realized she was pregnant, my mom and my dad never had

any contact with each other, and I never had any

contact with my dad. No child support claim was ever

made, and thus no child support order ever came from

any court.

Is there any action that can be taken now that I'm

over 18? Can my mom still make a claim with any state

or federal agency in order to collect money that

should have been due her as I was growing up, or is it

too late to file any

Re: Child over 18 - Any hope in collecting back support?

Since she decided not to ask for support, no support was ever ordered so no support is owed. you cannot collect something that is not owed.

Too late. You might have inheritance rights.
