Legal Question in Family Law in California
Someone I know has a child with a man I dated for four years and he was never really physically abusive (he slapped me once and shoved me a few times but beat the hell out of me emotionally) and now he hits her. they have a child together and during the last time of him beating her she fought back and left a mark on him and he filed something and now has temporary custody of the child. now the mom wants to fight to get her son back cause the dad isnt really father material he missed the birth of his son cause he went home to smoke maraijuana. now here is where i come in she has asked if i could write a statement on what i know about him in my 4 years of dating him he dropped out of high school even when he had me doin his homework he had a good job through family but left it to work at a bong shop he never did anything for himself except work and smoke alot of marijuana. so do you think my statement would aid in her getting her child back and if so what would be a good way to start my statement? thank you for your time

Not without going to court to testify. She needs a victim advocate to help her. Tell her to try legal aid and the family court services. She needs a lawyer, and you can help her when she gets some competent legal advice.
