Legal Question in Family Law in California

I had a child in 2008 with a man i wasnt married to. I was married but seperated so I couldnt put the babys fathers name on the birth certificate. My question is, can the birth father fight me fo custody or have any rights to my child? If so How can i prevent him from having any rights/visitation?

He can fight you. You cannot prevent it, unless he is a danger to the child, and even then he might get supervised visitation. The good news is that he will also owe child support, including back support.
