Legal Question in Family Law in California

child responsibility

My husband and I share joint custody of his daughter with his ex and her husband. They (the ex and her husband) are adament about my step-daughter driving and went behind our back to sign her up for driving school. Is there anyway we can get a release of liability on her?What can we do to protect ourselves?

It is my understanding that the person that signed the permission form for her to drive is liable for any damage that occurs from her driving. Check with your auto and home owner's insurance to determine if you can obtain some type of supplemental insurance to cover any liability,if any, you may have.
