Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child suport wage garnishment
My boyfriend has a case open withthe local bureau for Child Support. At one time he was having his wages garnished. He now has a new employer and they have not garnished his wages as of yet with this new employer. I know that eventually they will. My question is if we were to get married would they garnish my wages? What can happen to me or what legal actions can be taken on me as his wife?

Re: Child suport wage garnishment
The general rule is that your wages cannot be garnished for his child support. There are some unusual circumstances under which your wages could be garnished. So long as he is employed and paying support your wages should be safe. Consult with an attorney regarding your particular circumstances. Also do not deposit your paycheck is a joint account with him. Any bank account with his name would be subject to attachment. All funds in the account would be subject to attachment to satisfy the judgment.
