Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support Adjustment

We are paying child support for 2 children and the oldest will be turning 18 in June. Do we have to file any modification paperwork with the court to have this changed? If so, should this be done in the state that the order was done or can this be filed in the state which we reside?

Re: Child Support Adjustment

Generally an order does not terminate unless there is language in it stating as such. Unless the order states when it terminates, i.e. the child turning 18, you will want to go back into the court that made the initial order (unless another court has since taken jurisdiction) and modify that order.
