Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child support arrears- change of custody

I am custodial parent and non custodial parent owes over $8,000 child support non welfare. Now I may agree to a change of custody (same venue) San Diego County CA. What happens to my arrears? Will the DA let child support that I would pay just come out of the arrears she owes me? Child is 16 years old.
