The facts that you have provided are not clear

enough and/or complete enough to provide a

definitive answer to you inquiry; however, I would

say either hire an experienced family law attorney or visit the 'facilitator's office' at your local family law courthouse or see your county's Family Support Enforcement Unit (formerly part of the DA's Office). If paternity has not been established your will need to file a Petition to Establish Parental Relationship, and have an Order to Show Cause Re Child Support issued.

Is this is marital situation? Are there any custody Orders? Has the court ever been advised that this chld exists? Why are you seeking child support rather than the other parent?

Do you see how empty of facts your "question" is? Give us some info so that we can answer!

That depends on if you were married to the Father. You could go to the Department of Child Support Services, but that may take you several months before you have a child support order or even file the case. The second choice is the Facilitators office, but that too is risky, as you will be appearing before the judge by yourself, without an attorney. Probably, you will be money ahead retaining an attorney. The judge may order the Father to pay a substantial portion of your attorney's fee. Get an attorney to help you--the first step would be trying to work out an agreement with the father outside of court--this would be enforceable and would also save you time and money. If that approach doesn't work, then you can file in court for support.
