Legal Question in Family Law in California
Child support after 18
I am 19, was born in California and now live in Tennessee. My mom is a single parent and has never tried to file for child support. I, however, think my father should have to pay, espicially now that I am in college. Is there any way I could go after him for all the child support he should owe?

Re: Child support after 18
Although your father had a moral obligation to pay child support, he did not have a legal obligation to pay unless your mother obtained a child support order from a judge. Apparently, she did not. You are no longer a minor. Consequently, there is no legal obligation to which you can reach back in time and force him to pay, such as a child support arrearage.
