Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child support change, does it effect a written agreement

My question is that my mother made an agreement with my father prior to my birth that he would pay for college and child support. The agreement was written by a lawyer and signed by both my parents. Years after, when I was in my teens, my mom took my father to court to get the child support increased. My question is by taking my father to court and getting the child support changed did this nullify the first agreement that was made or is he still obligated to pay for my college?

Assuming that the court did not specifically nullify the Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA) at the later hearing, and further assuming that the MSA was made part of the judgement at the time the divorce was granted, yes, your father would still be obligated. Go to the courthouse with your parent's name and the case number and look at the file.
