Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support collections

I received a demand for payment of arrears from the child support collections department. What does it mean by seizing my real and personal property. Can they come into our home and take items like furniture and electronics? All of the items in our house belong to my wife which she had before we got married.

Re: child support collections

A court order allowing the seizing of property would have to be obtained before they could take any property. As a general rule no one wants your home furniture and furnishings. The value of furniture is so low that it is not worth cost of picking it up and selling it. You should try to set up a program to pay the arrears.
