child support

If there is a couple that have been together and one has a child from someone previously is there a law that says after a certain amount of time if they break up can she ask him for child support even though it is not his biological child? And if so how long does he have to get out before she can ask him for child support?

The general rule is that one is responsible for supporting their child. That is a biological child, a child that has been adopted or some other unusual circumstances. Consulting with an attorney to discuss the facts of your case will give you a much better idea what will happen.
