Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support

In 1995 when I divorced my ex I asked for no support for our two daughters, but in the settlement papers I had left it open for maybe asking in the future. Now that my children are well into theirs twenties can we go back and ask my ex for any support? can the children ask on their own?

Re: child support

A court may not award child support retroactively, which is what you are asking. A court may not award child support for an adult child who is not in high school and not disabled. It appears that you ask for nothing and received exactly what you ask for, however, you may wish to have your judgment reviewed by a family law attorney who can review the facts in case there is something important that is missed.
