Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support Enforcement on a Minor?

I have a fourteen year old daughter-pregnant.

The father is sixteen. The D.A.'s office is

putting pressure on my daughter to get child support. My question is this: Can a (minor) boy

of sixteen be held responsible for child support

payments?

(The baby is due the end of october)

(The father is incarcerated until about that time)

Re: Child Support Enforcement on a Minor?

An unempancipated minor can not be ordered to pay child support. His obligation will commence when he turns 18. An incarcerated adult with no income cannot be ordered to pay child support. Your daughter may be eligible for welfare.
