Legal Question in Family Law in California

child support

the father of my son,has me in court. he has asked the court to order me to get a job so he does not half to pay child support wich is 218.00 a month. i am married and my husband and i prefer me home with the kids. the judge has my income from half of my husbands. the judge orderd my sons father to get proof that i can make more by working, the state ordered this amount of child support . how do i defend myself on this one. I truly feel harassed that he thinks he can run my life. I support my son finacialy on the time that he is with me. I buy his cloths i pay the med copays, what kind of rights do i have?

Re: child support

You have the right to stay home. The most that the court can do is attribute income to you, but cannot force you to go to work. Unless you have job skills that make your income producing ability it is unlikely that he will succeed in his quest to increase the amount of income attributed to you by the court. Further the court can attribute income only if doing so is in the best interests of the children.
