child support

my girlfriend was on cash aid for the 3 months then got off. I have recently been served papers on an open child support case which she did not initiate. Are they trying to get me for back child support? will i have to begin paying monthly payments- my girlfriend, daughter and I all live together. The child support office told my girl that they close the child support case when she got off the aid- that's why she did. are they just wanting me to add my daughter to my health coverage? do i need a lawyer?

The goal is to recover the money paid by the county for the support of your child. By law you must add your child to any medical insurance available to you through you employer.
